Not so long ago, Richwise Australia have contributed some of its Russian birch plywood for design of one of the displays at the Grand Design Live 2012 exhibition.
Imagined and created by a young and talented designer, the plywood was originally a part of a free flowing suspended ceiling that has used the natural beauty of the Russian birch plywood with a truly stunning effect.
Once the exhibition has ended, all the leftover material was carefully collected and stored until a suitable project was found.
After a while it was decided to try turning the old ceiling into a custom-made shelving unit but the material was still sitting in storage collecting dust as the project was too fiddly and complicated for an average cabinet maker.
It’s only when we met with David from a Melbourne-based furniture maker Power to Make that the dream has finally become a reality.
